So, you haven't heard about Cinema Grade and wonder why it is so good? I wrote that post as a follow up to my Cinema Grade video on youtube titled "How To Speed Up Your Color Grading Workflow."

The Cinema Grade plugin is available for Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, and DaVinci Resolve.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to master color grading. The tool has BLEW MY MIND how easy it is to use and how time-saving it is. Using the mouse, click and drag to correct color and grade the image. A live preview gallery for all your LUTs & LOOKS! Really easy to use. I am also excited to share with you a 20% Discount Code for Cinema Grade.

What are the benefits of using Cinema Grade?

It's super easy to answer! Your flat footage can be easily graded or colored in a matter of minutes without feeling overwhelmed!

Drag your mouse or trackpad up or down to make all your color corrections and color changes on a big viewer. This is similar to Adobe Lightroom. You can balance your colors for the perfect skin tone without using a mask. A traditional inspector is also available for adjusting exposure, colors, or luma.

Cinema Grade is a new way of color correcting, matching multiple shots and applying a 'look' grade to a film. Currently, it is only available as a plugin for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and FCPX on Mac. It's never been easier before to adjust exposure and colors by clicking and moving up and down with your mouse, or to see a preview of all your LUTs & Looks in a gallery to see how your footage will look. That's what I enjoy the most! Learn how to correct, grade, and find the right look for your footage. Colorizing your video does not need to be complicated!

The interface is a simple guide that shows what comes first and what comes last. The tools are arranged to show you what direction you need to edit in. Start from the left and move right.

EDITING IN CINEMA GRADE HAS 3 PHASES

1st Base Correction, 2nd Matching your clips, 3rd Color Grade with LUTs & Cinematic Looks.

One of the best parts is that you can adjust like Lightroom, and more importantly, you can do it VISUALLY!

Simply select the parts of the image you want to adjust! When you click on an area you want to change, drag up or down to adjust the exposure (highlights, mids, shadows). You can adjust your saturation by dragging up or down.

The Easiest And Fastest Way To Make Films Look Like They're In A High-End Cinema.

Additionally, color grading 4K footage is easy, with no renders or leaks when playing back

It's fast and brilliant to adjust changes by dragging up and down with one click.

It is perfect for slow PCs or laptops, as well as if you do not need so much power to color grade 4K, 6K, or 8K footage because it uses a technique that takes high-resolution photos when you color grade. If you do not have a powerful machine, it will save you a lot of time.

False Colours

The False Colours feature displays the exposure in different colors so that you get the right exposure for your clip. Simply click on the spots you want to change and drag up and down.

Shot Matching

Then, you can easily MATCH all your clips or groups of clips.
Simply select a color and mark the clips for the group.

REAL-TIME Gallery

Finally, the best part is adding Luts or Looks and viewing them in a REAL-TIME Gallery. A LUT is similar to a Lightroom preset. Just pick a look and adjust it. Additionally, you will find over 60 new summer looks, sad, happy and more.

*PRO & Filmmaker version will have a BONUS 35mm film look from Fuji, Kodak, or other and will allow you to adjust the grain of the film.

HOW TO USE CINEMA GRADE

How do you install the plugin and find it?

You will see the plugin in Premiere Pro, FCPX, DR under effect CINEMA GRADE. Just drag and drop it to all your video clips.

To sharpen my footage, I created my own preset using Cinema Grade + Lumitri Color in Premiere Pro.

In the video you can see how I use Cinema Grade step by step and all the shortcuts you need to know.

Editing should be done from the TOP MENU from the left to the right. Next, each section should be edited from top to bottom.

How do you match all your clips in the timeline?

You have 3 phases BASIC / MATCH / GRADING.
After you color correct or grade, you have to copy to all or copy the plugin to all your footage

What is color correction & color grading?

It’s the first stage you should do. Setting the exposure and colors correct to that, you can color grade your footage with a LUT for a specific cinema look.

You also can use the COLOR CHART from Xrite color checker passport to get the right white balance and color!

1st "CORRECT" Basic

exposure-subline-1.jpg

Before giving you this amazing shortcut list, I will mention changing any exposure, color, or luma you have to click at the spot or area you want to change. Then with sliding up and down, you will increase or decrease the settings.

Adjustment Exposure

KEY E: Exposure

KEY SHIFT + E: Shadow/ Highlight

KEY C: Contrast

KEY SHIFT + C: Contrast Pivo --> Adjusting the midpoint from the contrast does not add more contrast

Adjustment WHITE BALANCE:

KEY A: Auto white balance

KEY W: Color Temperature (WARM IT UP / COOL IT DOWN)

KEY Shift+W: COLOR TINT adjust Green to Magenta

Adjustment Saturation

Dark, Mid, Bright area to adjust the shadow, mids, highlight saturation

KEY S: - Saturation

KEY SHIFT+S: - FINE-TUNE: Shadows/Midtones/Highlights or HIT

VECTOR TOOL

Pick the color and slide up and down in the image to adjust the HSL or HUE

KEY V: ---> HSL Vector to control the color HUE (SUPER COOL AND EASY)

KEY SHIFT: --> Adjust Saturation

KEY CMD: --> Adjust Luminance

FALSE COLORS

The best OPTION now to expose your footage correctly is FALSE COLORS. It represents in color which parts are under or overexpose.

The RED areas mean HOT, and they are overexposed, and the purple areas are COLD, which means underexposed. The perfect spot for the Skintone exposure is Green, light gray, and pink area. So keep them there!

False Color gives you exposure levels on an area basis. A Histogram instead shows you a general overall exposure reading.

KEY OPTION+CMD+F - Exposer tool + click to the red part to correct

False-Colors-cinema-grade.jpg

What is the different color mean?

Let's begin with what IORE (Institute of radio engineers) is, and the scale is from 10->100...

The area 0-10 IRE - PINK, PURPLE, DARK BLUE (Avoid it) BLACK UNDEREXPOSED

Then we have 22-42 IRE - YELLOW - BLACK(nearly Underexposed) Y(nearly overexposed) as well (warning signal)

40-70 IRE - GREEN, Rose(Pink) middle-dark GRAY: Skin tones

100 IRE - Orange/RED: Overexposed areas TOTAL WHITE

^^For the perfect skin color, you want to have it at 70 IRE, which is green-grey.

2nd "SHOT MATCHING" BEST PART

We are coming now to the best part of CinemaGrade.

How to match your clips or sequences?

If you have clips there filmed simultaneously, and in the same settings, you can match them all. When you want to have your clips match your whole film look, this will be the best way to do it.

1st, Choose your color, and the first clip is your HERO (Final corrected or grade clip)

Click "Match Shots" to get them Side-by-Side.

The hero shot is left, and the clip you want to match on the right

Use the Arrow Up and Down to see the other clips ion the Groupe

Use different Groups for other looking clips

Copy Correction or GRADE Apply to all Groups done.

Use the correction to Match them if there look different from the other

USE THE SCOPES for Matching:

Left Scope: Represents Shot on Left the other is right

Trace from both images is overlaid on the VECTORSCOPE (Should in one line or overlap then yellow)

Red = Hero // Green = Match Clip

Click the VECTORSCOPE window to switch parade to WAVEFORM to see which are is bright or dark in the image

Copy the corrections in the shot match tab to give a head start

3rd FINAL GRADE

Grade Directly in Viewer Make changes and fixes directly in the viewer with the industries' only simple point-and-click grading. It's as easy as painting or sketching.

On the left side, you can find your resect luts you used. To import or connect LOOKS or LUTS with CienmaGrade, go to Preference and add your luts from your hard drive. I always same all my ASSETS in one folder on a separate hard drive.

Next is LOOKS

Now you will find all your LUT Gallery.

It's so awesome to see all my Luts and see it in real-time to look with the camera I have connected. You can also change the viewed photo with the slider at the bottom.
